Arise, Dame Vicky..

Well there is no going back now.  It’s official – I am now Lady Captain – we had our Club AGM on Sunday and then our Ladies meeting yesterday so have ticked two big speeches off the list.  My speech to the ladies was rather long but informative I was told afterwards updating on all upcoming events, how the ladies have been doing in all the external competitions we enter, a bit about our Club charity for the year.  I thought I had covered almost everything until 8 hands shot up when I asked if anyone had any questions!  Some were easy to answer, others trickier but like a good politician, I tried to remain calm, collected and firm in my response and where necessary bought some time to find out the answer!  Following the meeting, great fun was had by all as we had our annual Lady Captain’s Team versus Vice Lady Captain’s Team foursomes matchplay.  In spite of hand selecting my team, my Vice hand selected hers better as the result was 3.5 to 5.5.  It was probably for the best as we had both bought chocolates for our teams and she had pulled out all the stops on very classy chocs!!

I was also very chuffed yesterday as I happened to be there when the sign writer had taken down the Captain’s Honours board and was inscribing my name onto it.  Once again, it made it all a bit real.  There really is no going back now..
