I’ve blinked and another month has flown by…….
We had a hugely successful Weekend Invitation in July and managed to raise over £200 for our club charity by selling everyone a piece of string, a kick and a throw to use on the golf course. It made for some cracking scores as people threw out of bushes without penalty and pieces of string were to be found all over the course used instead of tap in putts! I had lots of compliments on my prize table (and am very cross I forgot to take photos) which featured the Earth Squared bags for 1 st prizes, smaller Earth Squared bags for 2 nd prizes and the Deco clutch bags for 3 rd along with wine and flowers for nearest the pins etc. All the prizes were very well received and the table looked fabulous if I say so myself. I’m rather gutted the new Deco bottles had not arrived in time for this event but will have to get them on the prize table for an Autumn event…..!!!
The other big event I have had earlier this week was hosting our Past Captain’s Salver. It is the job of the Lady Captain to pick the lunch menu which may sound like an easy job but believe me, I felt the pressure. It needed to be light but special. All eyes were on me as it was presented but I think it was a hit – a smoked salmon, asparagus, avocado salad with home made muffins followed by crepe suzettes. Everyone was very impressed and the occasion was extremely jolly – I read a “golf” poem written by our oldest (now non-playing member) aged 97 all about golf and technology and another PC read a wonderful poem about a lady who struggled to hit the ball due to her rather large bosom getting in the way. Google it, it’s brilliant.
I’m off to the USA for 2 weeks with the family and I’m looking forward to a little break from the golf club to re-charge the batteries for all the big events in September – club championship, Autumn meeting to name but a few…………….
