Countdown to My Lady Captain Year!

January 14, 2019

I’ve been working for Golf Prizes/SR Designs for nearly 10 years and love my job and particularly the interaction with all of the Lady Captains. They sometimes even let me in on a few of their secrets of what they have planned for their special year. I spoke earlier this week to a lovely Lady Captain explaining that our new products will be with us soon, was she happy to wait a week or so for her order? She replied that it was absolutely no problem, that her Lady Captain’s day is in July and she was just being super organised as there is sooo much to do! It was then that the reality hit me………..this is me too!

I take over as Lady Captain at the end of March. I work for SR, am a busy mother of 2 boys and about to be spending a LOT of time at the golf club with the extra responsibility of being Lady Captain. I thought it would be a great idea to share my experiences with you all and am hoping it will keep me organised and would be happy to answer any questions you may have on this forum and welcome everyone else’s experiences/news/ideas etc. Please feel free to share this link with your friends who are also Lady Captains or Vices and hopefully we can all enjoy our experiences together…….

At our club, the winter months tend to be more about fun golf and trying to get everyone, high and low to join in. Given the new rules effective from 1st January, I’m currently trying to put together an “exaggerated rules” competition. It’s not finalised yet but am thinking about a Texas scramble and some of the rules will be: You must leave the flag in for every single putt – a good opportunity to road test whether it is better or worse to have the flag in on shorter or longer putts. You have to, at least once in the round, choose the shot that has gone into the bunker but you can’t play it but will HAVE to drop out and incur the 2 shot penalty. If you go in the rough you may have no choice but to take a drop to practise the dropping from knee height (which by the way if you’ve tried it, is not as easy at it looks!). You get the general idea about this competition but I hope it will be fun.

I’ve also been trying to get a little bit organised early this year doing my sale shopping for events which have literally only just happened in 2018 namely the Christmas foursomes competition. Lots of shops still have 50% or more off Christmas products so it’s an ideal time to pick up some bargains in advance. I’ve even bought some fun holly ballmarkers here at Golf Prizes.

I’ll be back next week with some more news but in the meantime if you have any questions or anything to share, let me know.

Vicky
