LC Blog
Everything has really slowed down since the October exchange and I’m feeling a little bit demob happy although I still have 4 months to go as Lady Captain.
However, tis shortly the season to be jolly so I have to organise our Weekend Christmas foursomes event and weekday Christmas foursomes. I’m now feeling slightly smug as you will remember that I was super organised back in January and picked up various bits and bobs back in the post Christmas sales for prizes.
Last year’s LC who is a teacher and whose motto is that everyone is a winner had a wonderful lucky dip prize bucket for the weekend competition. The idea is that you buy an assortment of prizes in varying degrees of value/appeal and then players have to take their prize in the order that they finished ie last place gets to pick first all the way up to winners. However, each pair have the option to “steal” someone else’s prize if they prefer it to their own so you are never quite safe and could end up with something you really don’t want if your prize is taken away and replaced by someone elses!
I’ve had more people than anticipated sign up which is brilliant so in addition to the Christmas towels, candles, decorations, chocolates and holly ballmarkers and hatclips from SR, I also decided to pick up some bargain From the Lady Captain 2019 pencils and ballmarkers as you can never have too many pencils or ballmarkers. Hurry though before they all sell out!
I’m also going to do a Nearest the Christmas Pudding and Nearest the Mulled wine on two of the short holes for both the weekend and weekday competitions but they won’t necessarily be positioned closest to the pin for added fun!!
The other event we have coming up at the end of this week which I will be busily selling raffle tickets at is our Charity Bridge Drive. I’m not a bridge player but again am lucky to work for SR as Sue Rogers, owner, who is also a member at the golf club and great supporter of this year’s charity, has very kindly donated the three bridge prizes on offer on Friday. First is a bridge mat, second our Art Deco playing cards and third a bridge pen. All of these make excellent Christmas gifts as well as prizes so if you are a bridge player or know any, do take a look at our bridge website: bridge-tables.co.uk.
Now I just need to start thinking about my own Christmas shopping, not to mention my youngest son’s birthday next week……..
